April US Sales: Jetta And Passat Up, GTI Down

While Volkswagen's April US sales were up 11.2 percent over the year-ago month, north of the border in Canada they were down 4.2 percent.

However, year-to-date sales were up in both countries, by 20.4 percent and 12.7 percent, respectively.

America's sales leaders were the Jetta and Passat sedans, both with significant increases that helped the models account for 65.3 percent of all VWs sold in April. The newly launched GTI dropped noticeably over March, selling 1,520 compared to 2,127.

In Canada the GTI registered an eight-fold sales increase for April, but the volume leaders were the Jetta and Passat with 72.5 percent of sales.
