Edition 30 Commemorates GTI's Birthday Nov. 17, 2006 ) Click on images for larger views. To commemorate 30 years of hot-hatch supremacy, VW has rolled out a special birthday GTI.
One horsepower was added for each year to Volkswagen's award-winning turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder, bringing total output up to 230. The GTI Edition 30 features a slick matching body kit, cherry-red taillights, special badges and black 18-inch alloy wheels. A no-cost option is silver 18-inch alloys, pictured at right. Inside are good-looking leather sports seats with the classic GTI Interlagos checkers, floor mats with red trim, plus red stitches on the steering wheel, gear-shift boot and handbrake. And, of course, no special-edition GTI is complete without the golf-ball shift knob. Happy birthday, GTI! ) ) )
